Dog sitter availability not up to date?

Why can't dog sitters/boarders update their calendars to let us know if they won't be available? I've contacted 5 different people, all of whom were supposedly available but it turns out they actually were not.

I try to keep up my calendar. That's easier said than done. But even when it's been up to date, I've had many owners contact me for dates I marked unavailable. I'm sorry you've had difficulty finding available sitters. But thanks for taking note of the calendars! That encourages me to keep trying!

Sorry you are having trouble finding someone. Like Walt said, we are all independent contractors so some people just do not keep up with their calendar like they should.

When you are looking through the list of possibilities, someone who has been keeping up with their calendar should have a little "calendar recently updated" box at the top of their profile preview. Walt's suggestion is also a great option that I would try.
