Why can't customers tip?

There doesn't seem to be any way for customers to tip. Why is this?

My thought would be that you are paying for services prior to the sitter actually completing the job. I personally feel that leaving an area open for tip kind of imposes on the clients. You are always welcome to leave your sitter a cash tip. For me personally, I am just as happy with a positive review as I would be with a cash tip. A positive review will go a long way.

pretty easy to give the sitter cash after a booking

The feature for tipping hasn't been added to the Rover platform, and I highly doubt it will, but many of us wish it would. Since the client was charged for the booking at the time of booking the financial transaction has already occurred it would be difficult for them to add a tip.

When ordering from Amazon's Prime Now, there is an option to add a tip before you click Place My Order. I do this all the time. It would be wonderful for Rover to have this as well.

If you are dealing with a sitter you have worked with before and you know you would like to tip but you don’t want to tip cash for whatever reason, you could ask them to adjust the amount they charge you by the amount you would like to tip. Remember though that 20% will be taken out of this so a cash tip would be the best way to get the most out of your money. I do agree that the option to tip a provider through the site after the service should be a feature, but unfortunately they haven’t added this (yet?).
