Any advice on getting started?

I've shared to my facebook and on Craigslist.. what's a good way to get clientele? I really want to make a business doing this, but I also don't want to be pushy.

Those are great ways to start, but I would also suggest having business cards made and traveling around to veterinary clinics, dog parks, pet stores, etc. that are in your area and asking if you can leave some on their counter or post one on the bulletin boards that a lot of dog parks/pet stores have. I used Vistaprint for my cards, but I know that you can also purchase some through the Rover store here.

Good luck!

Hi Kait! Like Hillary said, leaving business cards around at local pet-places can be a big help gaining clientele. It can also be a big help if your Rover profile is complete and full of pictures and great reviews/testimonials. Since you cant get good reviews until you get clients (obviously) having people you know or have worked with write testimonials is another great way to get your first customers and let them know that they can trust you with their beloved furbabies. I live in a more rural area, so I had to do a bit of traveling for my first couple clients but it was well worth it to gain some experience and get their valuable feedback.

I took a look at your profile. I love your photos and your rates are really great! If I were you I would take a look at other local pet boarding facilities and see if you are under selling your self. Its good to be fair but this doggie business is a lot of work and you should be paid for it. Happy sitting, Amber G.

Also start your own business Face Book page and The app called NEXTDOOR. Rover gets me lots of business but FB and NEXTDOOR have too.

Look at the profiles of other sitters in your area to see what the average rate for your area is. Set your price a little lower ($2-5) in the beginning because you probably have less experience. Then, as you get clients and experience, raise your rates gradually to match the others. And be patient, getting your first couple of clients takes some time, especially if you are new.
