Determining number of appointments in your calendar?

So say you do both dog walking and drop-ins on any given day. You know, based on your schedule how many total appointments/time slots/whatever you'd want to call it that you have available on a given day, but then how to give a correct number on a calendar date?

Example: I have 6 free slots on a Monday. Do I label Mon as 3 Walks, 3 Drops available? But what potential walking client #4 doesn't reach out because my schedule says I'm full for walking? The same thing could happen for drop-ins to.

I'm a very highly scheduled person so I already know for certain the number of appointments I can handle on any given date, it's just that during really high stress days in my life I want to be able to blindly refer to my calendar and say yes or no to can I do whatever appointment, and not have anyone mistakenly think I can't do something and they go to another walker.

Hopefully this made sense. How do you manage your calendar?

When you offer multiple services like walks and drop-ins on the same days it can be trying as you indicated. You have to determine which service is more active for you in your area? I offer walks and drop-ins and my walks are always full, yet rarely get a drop-in. So for me I always have my walks set at 5, and drop-ins set at 2. I have also found walking attracts clients who need you M-F, drop-ins come on random or occasional days. Not sure this helps you but good luck

I agree with Walt. Another option would be to list both at 6, and as you fill up with one, manually adjust your calendar for the other. For example, I offered both house sitting and boarding, but I obviously wouldn't be able to do both on the same night. But since I didn't know which service potential clients may want, I listed myself as available for both services. Once I booked a request for one, I dropped my availability to 0 for the other. This will only work well if you're able to update your calendar frequently, but may alleviate some of the unknown about what potential clients are looking for!
