Rover ad on Craigslist keeps getting flagged?

I live in the Tampa Bay area & I know there is a lot of competition for dog sitting, so I post my Rover ad on Craigslist. Problem: Someone keeps "flagging" my posting, so Craigslist removes the posting. Has anyone else had any problems with this? Is there any way to keep this from happening?

My solution thus far, keep tabs on it every couple days & just keep posting! Any other recommendations? Thanks!

I live near Orlando and have the same problem, it's so frustrating, and too time consuming to keep reposting that I may just quit using Craigslist all together. The problem to me seems to be that anyone can flag you for any reason, including your competition. I have joined several Facebook pages in my immediate area that are strictly for small/home based businesses and do most of my advertising there. It's a shame that Rover Contests are mostly geared towards Craigslist. If anyone figures a way around getting flagged...PLEASE share. So frustrated!!!!!

Jennifer, can you share more about how to post on facebook pages for small/home based businesses? I would love to do that as well. Thanks.

I am a new Rover sitter in Oregon and just experienced the same problem with Craigslist. I've had that account for years without a problem and after two posts for Rover, my account is on hold. Same result with emailing the help desk at Craigslist and receiving the same automated response over and over.

I live in the Phoenix area in AZ and just woke up to that, this morning as well. My craigslist account has been put on hold & all my Rover ads have been flagged. This really hurts as I get most of my customers off of craigslist & sent to Rover, if not for myself but for others to find a sitter near them.

I have also had my ads removed off Nextdoor as well as you can't advertise on that site. You can give a recommendation but not for your own business.

It's very frustrating.

My account at Craigslist was put on hold. I am unable to do anything with it. I emailed Craigslist and did not get a response. I was flagged at Nextdoor as well. Yes, very frustrating!

Same problem here. I contacted Rover Support about this and they responded that they are aware people are having difficulties and are working on it from the corporate end.

craigslist charges 25.00 for ads posted in some markets. so since rover is not paying craigslist your ad will get flagged. even thou you are not a employee of rover you are soliciting business thru them . obviously rover will not pay you to send business to them which is actually you as a independent business owner

This is not true at all. Craigslist is well-known for its laissez faire attitude toward what goes on on the site. It doesn't have a huge number of employees to police the site or devote any time/effort to creating programs to sift through postings. CL likes being the Wild Wild West. It isn't after ad revenue from Rover sitters. Other dogsitters are flagging the ads to get rid of competition and know how to play the game. I've seen a number of postings and articles are various sites purporting to show how to beat the system with varied results. Craigslist has no motives for taking down the ads or suspending accounts for such an innocuous service. Moreover it has demonstrated that it won't even touch ads for adult services even when states have legislated or sued to have them taken down.

In my area, Rover is posting a tons on CL to get more sitters. So, I too had a hunch that if they're not paying CL, that might lead to some problems (I think that was alluded to when Carmen said Rover Corp. trying to fix it)...&... some of it could be nasty competition, from other sitters/walkers.

Craigslist postings are free, except for certain type, as shown here: https://www.craigslist.org/about/help/posting_fees I read Carmen's comment as Rover was trying to alert CL to the false flagging issue, but my response to that was: good luck! CL just doesn't care enough to get involved and it isn't how they run things.

True. #1 on the linked list is job posting. Rover was dominating the CL board Jobs section with titles like BUILD YOUR DOG SITTING BUSINESS! EARN UP $1,000+/MONTH in multiple cities. (That's why I think there may be trouble spilling over from Rover doing that).

But Rover is not our employer. We are not on Rover's payroll. They are not guaranteeing us work. They are merely offering us a listing service with some added frills, like insurance and customer support.

Yes, of course, agreed. I was considering that if someone at CL was not okay with the Job posts Rover was leaving (which seems to violate rule #1), someone at CL could easily search all posts with Rover in wording. However, since some sitters aren't reporting troubles, maybe that's not the case.

CL's philosophy is very hands-off. Take a look at the FAQ (https://www.craigslist.org/about/factsheet) about CL (traffic, breadth of operation and its small number of employees). CL relies on the community to police itself and doesn't actively monitor activity or even provide a basic level of customer service, as all the Rover sitters with suspended accounts have mentioned (i.e., not getting any kind of response from CL). Other sitters/pet sitting businesses are most likely IMO responsible for the flagging.
