What is the best way to find an AVAILABLE sitter?

I have been using Rover for quite some time, but have never found it as difficult to find sitters. I'll reach out to at least 5 or more at one time, and I'm lucky if I find one available.

Any suggestions? If so, I highly appreciate it.

Thanks so much!

If you have already booked a service with a sitter on Rover why are you not using them again? But to your question, all Rover sitters are independent contractors and determine when they receive a booking request whether they are busy or may want or not want to accept a booking service for the time you have requested.

I wish you good luck in finding a quality sitter who will be able to provide the care you need.

My previously booked sitters are either not on Rover anymore or they are not available. If I could get them, I would. While I understand that they are independent contractors, it seems to me they should block out their calendars or indicate when/when they aren't available. Thanks so much.

Even when your go to sitter on Rover looks booked online- it’s always best to contact them anyway- they can always make room for you if they are professionals- if they are suddenly not available and told you that personally it’s probably a good thing and time to find your forever sitter on Rover

When searching use the filters, select the must haves like full time sitter and certification in sitting and medical intervention like cpr. Also look at their pictures and read their profile , tossing out the wide impersonal request gets a quick response but rarely passes my requirements for stay

Why aren't sitters that use Rover required to keep an updated calendar? The date range search filter seems pretty useless becauseI'm spending too much time contacting sitters whose calendars show 'available' when they're actually booked.

That’s not true, the calendar is real time with exception of pending bookings that can take your spot or hold a sitter who doesn’t know how to keep inbox clean. If they play the unavailability game, they probably had an issue with your fur baby and are trying to be nice - blocking feature gone now

I always keep my calendar up to date. But Rover allows requests through anyway even when my calendar shows not available. TheRover feature is fixed and rather annoying for all. They should auto-deny the request per calendar or give us setting options to auto-deny We end up looking bad for declining
