Why are Holiday rates applied to non-holiday dates?

I have an upcoming booking for next week, Jan 15 through Jan 19 with Renee. The note in the app says Holiday rates will be applied to Jan 11-16 for both dogs, but Holiday rates were applied the 17th and 18th too. Why? Why weren't regular rates applied to the non-holiday dates? I didn't notice this discrepancy until today and have already paid for the visit.

Holiday rates are applied to every single date in the booking even if only 1 or 2 days of the booking are considered a holiday. However, each sitter might choose to charge holiday rates differently. I would message your sitter and see if she is willing to refund you for the days that aren't holidays and only charge you the extra fee for the 17th and 18th. This article explains how Rover handles holiday rates. https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/articles/204706790-What-are-holiday-rates-and-how-do-I-manage-them- (https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...)

The way Rover applies holiday rates is ridiculous. There's no reason to charge holiday rates for dates that are not stated holidays. Putting the sitter in the position of having to refund you is really a bad idea. This just encourages me to break the stay up into two stays, 1 for holidays, 1 not.

Totally agree, Robin! If I am booking a 16 day stay and one day happens to be a holiday that most companies don't even give off work for, why do I have to pay extra for the other 15 days?? It's already expensive enough to find a sitter, but to have to pay $75 more...I'd rather book outside of Rover
