Advertising at Vets??

Do any of you leave business cards at the vet's office? I often hear this suggestion for dog trainers, but wonder if it wouldn't be unprofessional as boarders. After all, many vets also offer boarding, so we're kind of taking their customers...

I called my local veterinary offices and asked. Some were receptive and let me leave cards (and yes I even got a client referral or two), some were not. Some dog-parents do not want their dog in a cage with numerous other dogs. And although sometimes the staff at the vets pet-sit during their off hours, they're working during the day and have more reduced availability that a sitter who has made that their whole focus.

I've seen flyers and ads at almost every vet's office that I have visited. I would suggest phoning them or stopping by in person to ask if they allow local pet sitters to advertise their services at their location. The worst that can happen is that they tell you no, so I would say go for it!
