Rover holiday perks and sweepstakes not fair to rural and small town sitters?

So, I get an email today from rover telling me if I accrue 100 points over the holidays I can get some coupons off of dog/pet-related services (coupons that are readily available elsewhere, without having to accrue any points). You need 101 points to even be entered into the sweepstakes. I live in rural Iowa and although I work somewhat steadily for what the population is here, it would take me 6 months to get 101 points to be eligible to enter the sweepstakes! If they want to reward us, how about some real perks we can use like http://rover.com merchandise discounts or free merchandise for points less under 100? Letting anybody who works over the holidays enter the sweepstakes would be more fair rather than only the people who live somewhere where it's probably pretty easy to get over 100 points over the holidays :/ Your holiday "perks" program sucks, http://rover.com

I agree.... perks are useless. I already subscribe to barkbox so thats pointless, I already have furbo and the deal sucks anyway. holiday sale is already $50 off. perk only gives u 30 off. free cleaning is useless because u need atleast 3 month contract..only thing maybe beneficial is kurgo discount

Chances of winning the $$ are pretty slim with over 100K sitter/walkers on the Rover site; and many will qualify as its pretty easy to get the 101 points. So why get upset as your odds of winning are slim regardless of where you live?

".....as its pretty easy to get the 101 points" Because, I won't be able to get the needed points to even enter, even have the chance, just because I live in a rural place. Nice I guess to have the chance if you live in a big city, but they should make it fair so that everyone can at least enter.

I know sweepstakes can have low odds of winning, but to not be able to even enter it sort of sucks, just because of where you live.

I looked at your profile and I see you are a new sitter, it takes time to grow your client base. Many sitters in small cities or rural areas will qualify, you stand a better chance next year.

Eh, there are only so many people here, doubtful, imo. Even so, is it fair to exclude newer sitters or sitters from areas with a rural or small town population? I don't think so. They could have easily made it fair to all sitters. This only rewards those who can really rake in the bucks for them

I won 628 points and got nothing!!

This was a discussion on the rover.com pet sitters site. Several rover hosts checked it out and you can get the exact same coupon discounts by searching for the online coupons for those companies. Big disappointment for everyone. As far as other contests rover sometimes run, prizes always go to the highest rover earners and pretty much the same hosts. I think, partly, because they live in High cost of living areas so their rates are so much higher and have a great repeat business built up. Most of the rest of us that limit how many "stays", lower cost of living areas and don't do all the services available, can't compete in any way. So, yes, if you watch for the winners of rover contests, you will see the same names come up. Those who get a good rover And private base usually build up their private business, send rover customers to other rover hosts and leave rover. Don't fret over the contests. Go for being the Best host that owners Love and will recommend you. Maybe some day you will have a Great private base for your own business. In the mean time, I do recommend joining Rover.com Pet Sitters. You need to send your rover url to an admin. because it is a closed group. I am Always learning from other rover hosts even if I don't provide the services they do. Check it out! Good Luck
