Why is Rover requiring the app for Doggy Day Care in sitter's home? [closed]

I do boarding and doggy daycare in my home. Again, Rover is going to require using the app for doggy daycare in sitters homes. I don't have a cell with internet and my budget doesn't support the expense of a cell with internet and data. I would have to keep the "report card" going for 9 to 13 hours for my doggy daycare pups. We went thru this before and rover dropped it due to complaints. My customers don't want report cards. I send updates with lots of pictures to owners rover accounts. I And Rover will loose customers because they have told me they would have family/friends watch their dogs if they can't use me. Last time one of my customers call rover support and voiced their opinion that they didn't want the rover cards. Is anyone else in my situation?

Its weird your client is ok with you sending pictures but a rover card is too much. A rover card contains a link to all the pictures so its actually less updates than sending each picture though the app.

No, not weird. I send lots of pictures and detailed updates, some are little funny things their pup does while here. Owners love the details. They don't want to know how many times their dog peed and pooped and just 1 picture.

Well, you don't have to mark pees and poops, and you can upload more than one picture... with that said, it should really be up to the sitters whether they want to use them or not, as well as up to the client. I frankly I don't understand why they're required on daycare either.

I am in the same situation. I do not own a smartphone, nor do I wish to purchase one. Why is Rover forcing sitters to use an app to send a Rover card. Shouldn't it be the pet owners option whether they want a card? I update all my clients with messages and photos. NOT ONE of my clients complai

Isn't there a character count limit thought on how much you send? I sent an update yesterday with 19 pictures included along with stories about each pic. You can't do that in the app that I'm aware of.

You can't anoint each photo in the rover card, but as far as I know there is no character limit or photo limit with the rover card. I'm not sure what you mean by including a picture with each one, I've sent clients photos thru messages and you can write a comment with each group or pic you send...

and I've done that with using my app or using my tablet (which doesn't have the app, so it uses the browser).

I'm confident that answer is Yes. I, for one, am another person that refuses to use the app. As a result, my profile was updated to reflect that I'd no longer offer day care, drop in visits, walks for Rover clients at that time. I get requests from other sources and will not convert/book them by Rover for that reason & I informed Rover of that.

I am so sorry you lost and are losing rover daycare customers. I am glad you have other sources you will take private. I and rover will lose "my" daycare pups...loss of awesome pups, customers and income. I also have other sources but have them go thru rover and will now take private.

I can understand requiring the app for walks and drop-ins, but daycare? That makes no sense. What proof of service is needed since the dog is at the sitter's home? My fear is that Rover will next require the app for boarding.

Even some walkers and drop in's that have been with rover for a certain amount of time don't have to use the app, just newer hosts. Daycare and stays- there is no way!

Almost all sitters and walkers will be required to use the App, no one will be exempt

How do you know that?

What if I have the app do the pet parents need the app to see I do walks and checkins or can they book walks and stuff beside boarding without the app. I’m only getting boarding clients and it stinks opposite of what I wanted is that a issue for everyone?
