How to tell frequent client that I will no longer be dog sitting for Rover?

I have been house/dog sitting for this particular client for the past year. This includes holidays and long weekends...they are a wonderful family and I have loved dog sitting for them. I have three weekends scheduled for them which I intend to follow through with however, after that I will no longer be a dog sitter listed on Rover. I need to dedicate my time elsewhere so I will not be dog/house sitting at all anymore after August. How should I go about telling this family? I feel bad because we have gotten comfortable with each other and they will have to find someone else because they travel a lot. Should I write them a letter? Tell them in person?

I would let them know ASAP so they have time to find someone else. Since they have been such good clients and such nice people, you can always have a list of potential sitters you have checked out ready for them to choose from.

My Rover sitter left the platform once, and I thought he handled it beautifully. He let me know in advance, and then told me had met with three other sitters on Rover to discuss referring his clients. Knowing that he vetted them in advance was awesome. I looked at their profiles and picked the one that looked the most suitable for my pup.

Then, the old sitter even came to the meet and greet with the new sitter. He explained how my dog behaved when he was in the home, any weird things I might forget to mention, etc. This was the kind of "above and beyond" that made him so excellent a sitter. I even wrote a recommendation letter for his trade school application to let him know how his service meant to me (and my pup, Jango!).
