How do I or the sitter shorten the length of a stay if picking up a pet early and how will the credit work?

I booked a stay but my trip was shortened and I would like to pick my pet up early.

I am having trouble getting Rover to answer this same question.

It all depends on the sitter's cancellation policy and the arrangement you had with your sitter. Personally, I would consider this a partial last minute cancellation and not refund you. When booking with a small business, you are basically taking a huge chunk of their revenue potential and the spot that was reserved for your dog might not be filled once you cancel so the sitter will be loosing revenue, same goes with a vacation package or human daycare or summer camp.

Depending on how long the original stay was to be and how much of it you are cancelling, an arrangement can be taken with your sitter but even if they do refund you the unused portion of the reservation, I think compensating the sitter somewhat would be the nice thing to do.

Contact your sitter and inform them of the change. The sitter can modify the booking and most will offer some level of refund depending on their policy. This is a modification not a cancelation!

Credits are processed to the same credit card you used to pay for the service. Rover won't be carrying a credit balance for you.

If the stay has already started, then only Rover Support can adjust the booking and issue a credit to your credit card according to the sitter's cancellation policy. Also, it is always a good idea to keep your sitter in the loop.

If the stay has not yet started, then you would follow the procedures described here:
