This is my first time using rover and tried to request a dog sitter but its been 5 days and yet no answer, is this how it works or should I look for another one ? She looked perfect for my puppy.
I had an issue when I first started , my phone was not working with the rover app properly, messages didn't get to me for a day or two. I didn't know until one of my repeat clients told me. contacted rover right away. So just saying she might not have given you the cold shoulder. My advice, contact rover support they may be able to help you get in touch with that particular sitter or find you another sitter that meets your standards/needs.
No, it is not normal. Sitters are supposed to respond well within 24 hours, most under 12 hours. It should say on that sitter's profile what his/her average response time is. If you really like that sitter's profile, reach out again or contact Rover's customer support team at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team]; they may be able to ascertain why that sitter has not responded. But you might as well contact other sitters who meet your needs so that you have more than one from which to choose. There could be good, valid reasons why that particular sitter did not respond. You will find that most sitters respond fairly promptly to all inquiries.
I sent a message to 2 sitters. One responded promptly(and I have sent met with her and her family). The other has never responded.
It's odd when a sitter does not respond, 5 days is a long time not to answer. I find that some sitters go on vacation and forget to update their calendar to show they are not available, but even if they updated their calendar, they will get a message from Rover. I've found myself out of the country and still respond to customers. If I were you, I would keep searching for other sitters and send the sitter you like one more message. I don't know, it might be me, but I get really skeptical when a sitter doesn't answer.
