You should check your dogs ears to see if there is anything in there. They could just be dirty, which would require regular cleaning with a dog ear cleaner and a cotton ball. If they smell of yeast, then you have an ear infection and would need to seek treatment from your vet. Recurring ear infections and licking of the feet is a common sign of a food allergy also.

Do you clean them regularly? My dog suffers horrible ear infections and that's my first clue he's flaring up, he starts scratching his ears and shaking his head.

Hello, I am a sitter for rover.com, I owned many dogs over the years, one in particular was a border collie mix, and she had to have drops constantly in her ears as they would get dry and itch. If you keep your dog out a lot they do also suffer from dust and sand, good old dirt in their ears. The best idea is to call the vets office and ask them, many will advise you on the phone if you have a good relationship with your vet. There are a few pet blogs out there online that answer questions as well.
