Why does my dog always run away from me?

The dog may be doing so out of habit, to mate, may be bored or lonely, or have pent-up energy .
Many dogs like to play, you running after a dog can be a lot like running after a toddler. They run away because it's perceived as a game and becomes fun.
It is possible that your dog may be distrustful of humans. If your dog only runs away from you, however, your dog could just be distrustful of you. Try doing certain exercises to help your dog learn to trust you more to see if that helps.
