I sat for a dog for 2 nights & 1 day - how come I'm only being paid for 2 days?

Recently took care of a dog - arrival was early morning on Thursday, May 4 and picked up on May 6 at 3pm. Since my rate is $30.00 per night - I will be receiving $60.00 for Thursday & Friday but nothing for Saturday - even thou I had the dog most of the day. So that means I get no monies for Saturday??? How is that fair?

This is a really poor way of booking.

The client sees, oh, I can book for Thursday- Saturday and only get charged $60! Great, I'll book.

If you as the sitter want to get paid for the extra time, you have to go to the client and say, sorry Rover gave you the wrong price, it's actually going to cost more. This makes you look bad. This makes the client feel like they've been caught in a bait and switch.

Rover should provide more sophisticated booking options.

Rover counts nights stayed, so multiply your nightly rate by 2. (2 x $20 = $60)

Subtract Rover's cut from your total. If your fee is $30/night x 2 nights = $60, remember to subtract $12 (or 20%), which will give you a take-home total of $48.

If you are caring for a dog an extra day, on top of the night, you should charge a daycare fee.

I hope this helps!

You are right. It is not fair, but you had the opportunity to fix the bill so it covered the entire boarding period before the stay began.

Because of the way that Rover bills, you need to find out at the time of booking when the dog will be dropped off and picked up, so that you can adjust the bill before it is paid by the customer. All you have to do is explain to the client that each "nightly" charge is good for up to 24 hours of care. Therefore, in your particular scenario, the dog should have been picked up by early morning Saturday so as not to incur additional charges.

I do allow owners some leeway (a couple of hours) but beyond that means they will pay a daycare charge based on the overage. It is easy to modify the original bill and owners do understand. Since you do provide daycare, that makes it easier.

I find out at the M&G or through the booking's messaging the dropoff and pickup times and get it all in order before the client pays.
