Why does my dog bite her toenails?

Toenail biting and paw licking may be a sign of Atopy, similar to hay fever in humans, and they're biting to quell an itch. If it is a common behavior, check with your veterinarian to prevent serious skin infections from occurring.

They might be too long and are bothering him. Check them out and see if they need a trim.

He's biting his nails most likely because they are too Long & bothering him. keep his nails clipped & dremmeled (filed) otherwise he could wind up cutting himself with jagged nails when he scratches himself.
