Why does my dog eat plastic?

Dogs are a lot like babies where they learn more about something by taste and sometimes eating it. They just don't know better and need to be trained.

Dogs often explore the world through their mouths. This is one of the items commonly referred to as pica- eating dirt, sand, clay, chalk, paper, string, fabric, plastic. Nutritional deficiencies, electrolyte imbalances, and starvation can lead to pica.
Please do not allow your dog to eat plastic and other objects that can cause harm. Limit or remove access and distract as needed.
