Why is my dog losing his hair?

My dog is shedding a lot! More than usual. Is this normal?? Will it stop? How do I check for signs of illness?

Shedding is definitely normal this time of year, many dogs shed/molt twice a year, usually fall and spring. Shedding will never completely stop but it should slow down over the next few weeks, be sure you are removing the loose hair and not allowing it to become matted as that can cause skin irritations. Other culprits of shedding are skin conditions, old age, hormonal changes, stress, diet, and improper brushing. If you think the issue could be brushing, using a combination of a Paws Pamper Undercoat Rake and slicker brush will do wonders! If you think your pet has dry skin try adding olive oil or coconut oil to their diet, other issues may need to be consulted by your veterinarian. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U204CD4 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...)
