All dogs need regular veterinary care. The frequency with which you should schedule visits to the vet depends on your dog’s age and health. All healthy dogs should visit the vet at least once a year, and twice a year is advisable. Older dogs may need to see a vet every six months or more frequently. This gives the vet the opportunity to examine your dog and ensure that the dog is healthy.

Regular vet exams will help minimize problems from becoming larger expenses. How often depends on the age and condition. Puppies need every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks due to vaccinations, etc. Dogs over 1 yr.- 7 yr. needs annual. Senior dogs over 7 yrs. would benefit from twice a year.

And of course that's in addition to any other concerns that may need to be addressed in between appointments.
