Why does my dog have a swollen eye?

My dog's eye has been swollen all day and I have no idea how this happened! Could it be infected? Maybe something bit him. How do I know if this will pass on its own? Should I give him something?

A dogs swollen eye can mean many things. It may be a sign of an acute or chronic infection or it could be a symptom of a long-term or progressive disease in the body. You should take the dog to the vet
