Eye discharge is a common problem for some dogs. It can be a sign of anything from infection to glaucoma to allergies. Always talk to your vet to get at the root cause of your dog's eye discharge, because some problems can result in blindness or loss of an eye if left untreated.

Just like humans, animals can also get eye boogers or "Rheum"- which is a collection of music, blood cells, skin cells, and/or dust! During the day we basically blink it away, but when we sleep (and dogs/cats sleep more throughout the day) it can accumulate.

Here's the wikipedia on it, pretty interesting actually! : ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rheum

Definitely keep an eye on any odd looking discharge or excessive discharge, but otherwise, occasional eye boogies are natural and normal.

His eyes may water more then the average dog. You may want to check out some eye booger products as it can be pretty itchy and/or uncomfortable for your fur-baby
