Meeting the sitter before I commit?

I would like to meet the sitter before I agree to let my dog stay with them. Is that possible? It seems like I have to pay and commit without even meeting.

Hi Courtney,

All you have to do is message the sitter and ask for a Meet & Greet. Some sitters will meet you and your dog at a neutral location, especially if they have their own dog, but you can always request seeing the sitter's home, where you dog will be staying. I hold all my M&Gs in my home because my own dog tends to be less friendly on his leash outdoors. I see how the client's dog behaves in my home and how he/she interacts with my own dog.

You do not have to pay or otherwise commit to a stay before meeting the sitter. In fact, Rover advises customers to contact several sitters and meet them before choosing one. Moreover, no sit is considered a final commitment. First the sitter has to accept the booking. Some sitters do accept before meeting new dogs. However, it is totally normal and advisable to request a meeting beforehand to go over expectations and see the place where your dog will be staying.

Hi, Courtney! Most, if not all, sitters require what is termed a Meet & Greet in order to get acquainted with you and your dog(s) prior to accepting a reservation. This way, you can ask questions, get to know them, and ensure they it will be a good fit! They will likely bring this up when you contact them, but you're welcome to mention it in your message to them, too!
