Why does my dog pee when excited?

My dog did this for years. He is a rescue. My veterinarian said a dogs batter will release when the dog is over stimulated. So for example: when their body is shaky with excitement the muscle memory will forget and constrict the batter.

This has been discussed before. Some dogs experience submissive urination when excited, also when wanting to show submissiveness or as appeasement. Frequent potty breaks and low key greetings and exits will help with this.
