My dog has a dry nose. Is it just the weather, or is something wrong?

It is perfectly normal for the dog to have a dry nose during the winter. If there are other symptoms like vomiting, then visit the vet immediately. Otherwise, you can use coconut oil, petroleum jelly, dedicated pup wax, or nose balm for dogs from puppington.

Our girl had an extremely dry nose. Ended up being lupus. If it persists, see the vet.

I have two French bulldogs and an English bulldog. From time to time they get a dry nose especially when it’s fall and winter time. I live in Wisconsin. It was actually worse when I lived in Denver Colorado due to the altitude and sun exposure in combination with climate changes. I use vaseline but if I’m gonna be outside for a long time with the dogs, I use sunblock specifically for dogs (My Dog Nose It! Sun Protection Balm) especially on their ears and noses.

However, if the dry nose doesn’t get better right away or gets worse or if you think there is something else going see your vet. There are types of precancerous skin that make the nose appear dry or wort like or raised. But laying in front of forced air heat I. The winter can make a need for vaseline or coconut oil.

FYI: My dogs like to eat the coconut oil and end up, licking their nose non-stop when I use that…

Most people believe that a wet nose on dog = a healthy dog. That statement is correct most of the time, but not always. Dogs wake up with drier noses because they haven't been licking their nose during sleep (usually). Those cute little pink noses can get a sunburn also, thus creating a dry nose. Some dogs suffer allergies as well. I'm attaching a link to 6 reasons why your dog may have a dry nose: http://www.petful.com/pet-health/why-...

Normally a dogs tear ducts drain through the nose, a dry nose could be that your dog is sick but may not show signs

Being too close to heat Poor air circulation in a room Allergic to something Irritation Sun burn Dehydration Some diseases or syndromes Skin disorder

Two biggest reasons are either they are sick or just have allergies, it it persists i would take them to the vet just to make sure everything is running smoothly.
