Dogs may yawn for many reasons. Could be a calming signal, stress/nervous signal, or anticipating something joyful like going for a walk

Yawning is a sign that the dog may need to discharge anxiety. They do this in many other ways, like shaking off, as well. Yawning is also spawned by the body needing to intake more oxygen at that moment. Sophia Yin's publications are excellent resources for identifying behaviors such as these so that we may better understand our companions!

Dogs, like humans, will yawn when they are tired. Dogs also yawn as a way to deal with stress or excitement. Yawning and lip licking are calming signals with dogs. I'm attaching an interesting read here: http://dogtime.com/reference/dogspeak...

Dogs yawn for many more reasons than we will yawn for, completely normal!

Your dog may yawn because it is bored.

Dogs yawn just like we do, they're sleepy, bored or see someone else do it. Only they do it for more reasons as well, such as, when they are nervous or we are pressurizing them to much
