Does Rover have a non compete clause?

Does Rover have a non compete clause that would prevent someone from leaving Rover and starting their own pet care business?

No. The fact is that you don't even work for Rover. You are an independent contractor. You can get your business from Rover, from other sites, and from your own efforts.

You are required to process all booking requests from Rover clients through the Rover website. So I'm not sure if you can bring those clients with you if you were to leave Rover and start your own business. I know there are Rover sitters who also run a private sitting business, but they say they always keep the clients separate.

That being said, Karen is right. You can run your pet sitting any way you like and get clients however you choose.

Cari, I was going to mention the part about not taking clients from Rover, but he did say that he would be leaving Rover. If he did take his Rover clients with him, what is the worse Rover could do? Kick him off when he's already closed his account?

Karen, if he shuts down his Rover account, I don't know that there is any recourse. But I'm not a lawyer and there may be something in the TOS that says if Rover finds out he took Rover clients with him they could do something. I don't know.
