A dogs exercise need depends on a it's age, breed, size and overall health, Typically a dog should spend between 30 minutes and 2 hours per day.

Great question! While exercise needs will vary from dog to dog due to age, size, breed, etc. A good rule of thumb for a dog over a year old is indeed 30-45 minutes each day. Coincidentally, this is also a good recommendation for humans as well- so it's a great chance to spend some time with your dog!
Exercise is a great thing to vary and can be done via games, fetch, hiking, or a nice long walk each day.
Research suggests to limit long hikes or agility type training when a dog is a puppy and still growing. This is said to give them the appropriate resting periods between exercise in order to grow at a healthy rate. This topic is still being researched and there are strong arguments on both sides of the spectrum.

Depending on the dog breed times will vary. I would say 30-60 mins of active time is best to keep them healthy. Some dogs require more activity so they won't start destroying in the house due to boredom. The amount of time can be broken down throughout the day so the dog doesn't get over exerted. Multiple 10-15 min walks throughout the day should be fine. ALso playing with your dog in the backyard or inside with some toys all count :)

The amount of exercise depends on the dog. Almost every pup will require a but of exercise, but some have enough energy to go for days. If your dog begins panting heavily and unable to calm themselves quickly, it is time for a rest.

A good 30 minute walk (whether scattered or all at once) is usually "enough" to keep your dog in shape and healthy, although if you go for runs with them or just play fetch, that is a great workout for them too and it'll wear them out for bed time!
