Why does my dog lay on me?

My pup is only 4 mo. And she usually sleeps in my arms or on the trundle bed next to me. The other night she woke me by whining and laying on me first horizontally then vertically. After she got off i tried taking her out and she just stayed on the bed and fell asleep. Any ideas as to the reason?

Because he/she loves you! Typically a pup will lay on you just because they enjoy your company and want to spend some time with you :) My corgi mix will almost always lay on top of me when I'm relaxing on the couch. Dog cuddles are the best!

Your dog may be laying on you because he or she is cold or insecure. That being said, it's probably him or her trying to cuddle with you. A lot of dogs just like being right up close with their favorite people, and it's simply that: companionship. If you want a bigger zone of personal space, it's okay to train your dog to relax in a bed at your feet instead of on top of you.

Many dogs choose to lay with their pack for warmth and security. As their pack leader (or even just their pack member ๐Ÿ˜‰) this can be a sign of affection, acceptance, or an attempt to receive or give attention or security.

One reason can be for warmth. They get that warmth from your body heat. This can also be true for cats as well.
