Behavior changes after sitting
WE recently used http://Rover.com for the first time for our Baxter with a wonderful sitter in her home. We met with her twice and felt Baxter would be comfortable in that surrounding while we were away on vacation for 6 1/2 days. Baxter is a rescue and for the 2 yrs we have had him we have always included him in all our get aways, but this vacation was going to involve flying cross country and felt it best to leave Baxter with a sitter (rather that a Kennel) Our sitter sent us updates once or twice a day with pictures and we were very happy to know he was doing well.
Now my question/concern: when we returned he was happy to see us and he seemed just like he always was, very upbeat and happy. But as soon as we arrived back at our home his whole de-miner changed...he came right into the house and directly under our bed (which is where he likes to sleep). The problem was no amount of coaxing or bribing would bring him out and when he finally did come out his attention was only for my husband and when I would try to approach him for some lovin he would run straight back under the bed. He absolutely wants nothing to do with me, and when I do manage to wrangle him up in my lap to love on him he just trembles and can't wait to get down and back under the bed. Is this type of behaviour normal? What can I do to assure it won't happen again if and when we go away without him again. I miss my goofy little man and all our snuggle time.
Hi Rhonda,I am having a similar issue with my puppy, but I am so sad that it is difficult for me to handle it...did you pup recover from the "new/weird" behavior? Please help...Thank you!
After leaving my 2 year old Husky for the first time for a weekend getaway, I noticed these same changes. She is actually going under my bed, which she never does, and it really concerned me. I was starting to fear maybe she wasn’t treated as well as I thought she had been. I’m so glad I found this!
How did this end up? Just left my 4 month oks puppy for 6 days and experiencing a similar reaction. Hoping to find some guidance/reassurance
