Another possibility is stress mites. My vet explained to me that these are caused by stress such as a new environment. When we first rescued our second dog he had some spots on his face and neck. With routine baths and lots of love and attention they cleared up. this is not contagious to other pups.

i have a black lab that had developed a bald spot. After having vet check blood work for thyroid issues and that came clear they told me some dogs just have this problem. I did some online searching and started giving him Omega 3 fish oil in his food and his hair grew back and he has a super shiney

Without seeing your pup, this is difficult to diagnose. A bald spot could be caused by allergies that have made your pet itch a certain spot causing hair loss. This could sometimes also be related to fleas. On occasion, we do see dogs come in with mange (a skin disease) that causes hair loss in spots. This can be very contagious to you and other animals, so it is important to take your dog to the vet to ensure that this is not the case.
