Why does my dog follow me?

Why does my dog follow me everywhere? Not only when I leave the house, but even to the closet and the bathroom! Can anyone explain this?

Dogs are pack animals it is in there DNA. That is what they do.

Imagine if you left your dog for a vacation, some dogs get bad anxiety. Some dogs really want your attention and affection and sometimes even looking for a treat to pop out. If it bothers you try to distract them with toys.

Your dog follows you because it's highly social and has a powerful emotional need for companionship. You are the source of all good things in its life: food, walks, rides, treats, toys. He knows that you frequently want him around anyway: often you outright call him to come see you! So he's over-fulfilling your requests and anticipating your needs.

Dogs are pack animals. You are the leader of their pack, so they will follow you and await your commands. If it is something you would like change then you can teach your dog independence. People do this by crating their dog for a small period of time while they are home. It just shows your dog "hey you can have some alone time".

dogs love being with their family. Remember you and your dog are part of a "pack" YOU are the leader of the pack. Some animals may just have separation anxiety and being around others may help calm them down. My dog hates closed doors and will freak out and bite or scratch doors. But if he sees the door open he is fine. HE doesn't always follow me but he will look in my direction every once in awhile to make sure all is well.

My dogs follow me out of love, devotion and to protect me from harms way. They enjoy the companionship that we share. We're always there for each other. They have saved my life three times in their short eight years. They have a curiosity about people coming and going in and out of the house. They can sense if a person is good or bad.
