Are there any trends towards designer cross breed ownership over the past ten to twenty years?

These days I hear so much talk about the Labradoodle, Maltipoo, Chorkie and other designer cross breeds and was wondering how is this affecting dog ownership? Presumably for every designer cross breed owned there must be one less pedigree or mongrel bred / owned, unless of course dog ownership is increasing to compensate. So does anybody have access to statistics, presentations, infographics, videos, charts on trends in designer cross breed ownership? This is really for my own interest but as the proud owner of a Cockapoo I thought I would ask the question, as I am fascinated to what answers I might receive. I see from other Q&A’s this can be a controversial topic, I’m not looking for replies on pros & cons of designer cross breeds, just information about statistical trends in ownership.

AKC does publications for breed standards which may include popularity charts similar to this one: http://www.akc.org/content/news/articles/labrador-retriever-is-once-again-americas-most-popular-dog/ (http://www.akc.org/content/news/artic...).

I think with a lot of crossbreeds and mongrels both, you will find that the breeds stay true to the popularity of breed standards as well.
