Yes the back ground check is mandatory. It is performed by a third party company called checkr and may cost a small fee of $6 or $10 or $35 for advanced search depending on your area

That's odd because I've never had a background check. Rover uses the term "offers background checks" but never says all sitters must have one. I believe it may only be mandatory for people who go into a customer's home or has become required since I started here 5 years ago.

I'm only referring to the Checkr one. Rover may perform a very basic review prior to accepting new applicants but that isn't a background check and doesn't earn the person a badge.

I'm not sure when it started, I had to when I started and sitter and walkers need to pass a background check now

Did you offer walking and drop-in visits from the start? Those are the ones, plus house sitting, that should definitely require a background check.

Yes, drop ins, walks, boarding, and daycare. Background check is for the person creating the profile not specific service

Since you signed up to do walks, which require you to go into the customer's home, a background check would be not only prudent but desirable. If you only do boarding at your own home, like I do, then having a background check is/was optional, which is why it is a badge.

Passing a background check is required for all new sitters/ walkers signing up for Rover. Back in the day Rover used to only require this for "traveling sitters" (sitters who go to the owner's home to care for pets). Then, Rover changed this requirement to all sitters signing up. required YES
