What happens if a dog sitter cancels?

I am a little leary about the whole process. I am going on a vacation which will include a cruise with no cell service. What happens is the dog sitter cancels? Are they penalized... I had a friend who did something like this and her dog sitter called her half-way through her vacation and said she needed to find somewhere else to take her dog.

I had booked a dog sitter 2.5 month out for my vacation, even paid in advance and I got a text message today from the sitter' s number that my stay was cancelled! Her profile is no longer active. No contact from Rover to remedy. I am beyond upset and we leave next weekend for vacation.

Just happened to me. The sitter texted in sick at 3:51 AM today. We needed her by 8 AM today. She offered to sit my dog at her house instead but my dog is too frail. I would have boarded her if she was OK. That’s why I tried this place. Too late to get refund on planned event today. Losing $150 buck

It's not necessarily at no extra cost to you. They will cover an additional amount up to 25% of the original reservation. They contacted only two sitters on my behalf after a last minute cancellation, neither of which worked out. It was a stressful and disappointing experience for me. Definitely read the Terms and Conditions. I'm sure this is a little late for you, but thought I'd answer in case anyone has a similar question and comes across this in the future as I did.

One of the benefits of going through Rover is that you have their reservation guarantee: If your sitter is unable to watch your dog, we'll set you up with another sitter. Guaranteed. This means that if you book a stay and your sitter cancels, they will make sure you have a reliable sitter for the dates that you need, no extra cost to you. It doesn't seem to happen often, though I am currently watching a dog after his original sitter became ill and had to cancel. His owner contacted Rover, and they set her up with me. And since my rates were higher, Rover even paid the difference in cost between her original sitter and myself.

Even if something happens during a stay, Rover will coordinate everything and make sure your dog isn't left stranded. If you're out of cell service, the sitter can still communicate any problems to Rover, and I would recommend leaving the sitter some emergency contact numbers of friends or family that you trust. Put these names and numbers in your care instructions on Rover so Rover staff will be able to confirm that they have your permission to assist. Even if they aren't able to watch the dog, they can then communicate with Rover staff on your behalf.

Booked our sitter June 1st for an in home stay for 7 days. Just got a cancelation notification 12 hours before the job started. I am beyond mad. This was our first family vacation in 13 years. Rover found 3 more sitters last minute charging double the price. I wish there was a way to rate these sitters when they cancel or have a way of viewing their dependability.

Was there was a 2+ month delay in this posting?or maybe date is different? In this scenario, I’d suggest contact customer care again & ask them to cover the rate difference. (Years ago, Rover did this& clients benefitted). Rover is supposed to apply negative consequences to sitter cancelations

Just happened to me. I've quickly found out that people here are extremely unreliable and fake. I doubt most of them even provide the actual care and compassion that they advertise.

Now happening to me... I was nervous once I saw her place but unprofessional confirmed. I'm sitting at connecting airport headed out for business and sitter is complaining when I've used rover for 4 years now and every sitter says my dog is the easiest, especially for his large size.
