I think what that person was asking is for doggie day care, as I was curious about that as well. I think a lot of people would book for day care while they are at work, particularly if they have a puppy or new dog.
Ahh yes. You can do that also - we provide daycare for some of our clients. Your client can request pick up and drop off on the same date, and it will still generate the request. Then you just adjust the rate to whatever daycare rate you want to use. They can also request multiple days at a time by selecting a date range and then you would go in and adjust the rate to reflect the number of daycare days rather than nights. This ensures the dogs are covered by the insurance and customer support the entire time they're there.
Nope. It's set up as a nightly fee. You can, however, adjust your rate for each client as needed, so if you have a client who wants to drop off early in the morning of the first and pick up late in the evening of the last day, you can charge them for an extra 'night' since you'll be providing care for for a full day beyond the number of nights in the request. I'll explain all that in the message so clients are aware what they're being charged for.
It makes more sense to think of the nightly rate as the rate for a full 24 hours of care, so if someone is requesting a stay from Friday-Sunday, depending on pick up and drop off times on those days, the length of the stay is somewhere between one and three full days. The nightly rate is only going to accurately reflect the amount of care provided if the pick up and drop off times are nearly the same. Beyond that, I weight my rate more towards the day time hours, since that's when I spend my energy on their dog, so as in the first example, if the owner wants to drop off in the morning, but pick up in the evening, I'd charge the whole (or very close to) amount for the extra day, even though it's not an extra 24 hours.
I have a daycare client that drops off at 7am and picks up at 5pm. My normal fee for overnight boarding is $25. I give her a $5 discount for the day, and she is a regular customer booking 14 days out of each month. If the dog was bigger and required more exercise I would charge more but I feel like $20/day is a fair price for a 4lb Chihuahua/Terrier.
