Hello, I was thinking of using business cards to promote my business, but I'm not sure how to approach people about my services. I can get very shy at times so I don't really know how to bring it up without putting too much pressure on the other person, or just being plain awkward. Hope my question makes sense...Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!! :)
There are a lot of thorough answers already provided on promoting business that you may want to search. Instead of repeating the all the tips, this answer hopefully addresses your specific question. In your profile, you indicated that you go to dog parks, other parks, and play on lawns inside your community.
I'd suggest the easiest way to talk about your services is to start a conversation about their dog. Compliment them on their dog (it might be appearance - grooming, leash, harness, clothes, water bowl or energy level or obedience, etc) Ask about the dog, such as breed, age, name, the story how they found each other, etc. If the dogs are enjoying each other's company or you think it would be a good match, let them know if they ever need a pet sitter at their home or yours, you offer that service. The other person can then ask about your experience or for your card. Basically, you're just introducing yourself and dog to them and theirs, sharing your love for dogs, and letting them know you're available. After some time, it should feel really natural.
Great question Skye! I think we all have hesitations about promoting our business in person. As Deb stated, there are countless strategies and tactics you can find online to promote your business, but if you feel shy and just getting going, I would recommend the more indirect ways of expressing yourself.
A well written profile on Rover will do wonders, and always give amazing service to your existing clients. I have been lucky that all my clients have given me reviews organically, and in turn my profile has boosted on the Rover app. Other ways are to utilize Rover's or your own marketing material like shirts, cards, and signs. These things connect you to a business, and give people the choice to ask you about it if they want to. Thus relieving you of some pressure. Use these to help grow your confidence as you talk to more people!
