Why is my Paypal account not being validated?

I have finished a job that lasted almost a month, I am anxious to get paid, I tried to add PayPal to my account but I am told that you cannot verify my account. It is the same account I have had for over 15 years, the spelling is correct. I use it on a regular basis.
