I'm confused about the best way to list rates for dog walks while pet sitting?

At least at the moment, I'm not interested in having "dog walking only" clients. I'm mainly interested in being a dog(and/or) cat- house sitter.

If I'm sitting a dog I'm willing to give a dog all his/her walks or whatever walks the owner gives his/her dog. Is it expected that one walk come with an overnight stay? but what about walks throughout the day - how do I list additional walks? For example $29 for an overnight stay seems too little for overnight care and three walks etc.

Edit: Thank you, Karen, Cari, Walt and Shannon for your thoughtful answers!

Whether you board dogs in your home or sit for them at the client, the "nightly" charge is for a 24-hour period of care, which would include walking, feeding, playing, etc.

Of course, you have the flexibility to charge however you want so long as the customer understands and you've sent a revised invoice. When a customer requests x number of nights per dog, Rover's system assumes you are providing the full level of care described in the FAQ linked above. When a dog stays at my home, all walks are included in my daily charge.

House-sitting should be considered a premium type service. A higher "nightly" rate should be expected since you have to uproot yourself and stay at someone else's home. The client wants you there not only to take care of their pooch but also to protect their home. Your rate should reflect the added responsibility.

My rate for overnight house sitting and for boarding is a flat 24-hour rate that include all walks, playtime, feeding, and general care for the animal. I always discuss the activities with the owner during the meet and greet, asking how many walks does the dog usually get, time of day, etc. You are entitled to set your own rates and policies, but most sitters include walks in their daily rates for boarding and overnight house sitting.

I would suggest you put it in your profile that you charge extra for multiple walks per day, and your cost. (Unfortunately, not all prospective clients read through a sitter's profile, so you'll probably need to mention the extra charge during the meet-n-greet.) You can then edit your charges on the page for the particular request (either by increasing the nightly housesitting charge, or add on the walking fees as a miscellaneous charge).

If I am house sitting a pup multiple walks are included in my rate, no extra charge. Set your price accordingly.
