I can't answer your first question, although if the sitter declined it, then it shouldn't show as pending.

As for pickup times, it all depends on when you drop off your dog. For example, if you drop your dog off at 9 am on Thursday, then it needs to be picked up by 9 am on Friday, if you've only booked one night. Each nightly charge is for up to 24 hours of care. Overtime charges are at the sitter's discretion and would depend on the amount of time. You should always discuss dropoff and pickup times at your Meet & Greet with the sitter or in the preliminary correspondence. Then the sitter can modify your original sitting request to reflect the true amount of time your dog will be in his/her care.

If the booking request is still pending and has not been archived by the sitter, the request should automatically expire 72 hours after it was initiated.

Rover has not yet created a way for owner requests to be archived except by the sitter. Hopefully this is a glitch that will be fixed in the future. I have the same problem (several requests sitting in the pending because I was looking for sitters for an upcoming road trip). I guess we could ask the sitter to archive the request?

8-9pm is the latest I allow clients to pick up, unless it is discussed before hand or special circumstances like a flight delays. Even then most clients would prefer to extend the stay by a day than pick-up at 11pm.
