Alternate way to get a background check?

Hi. I don't want to give my SSN to anybody/anything. Why is that necessary for a background check?

Rover wants to make sure its sitters are not wanted felons or deadbeats. It's away to show potential owners that the sitter is trustworthy. Whether that is really true or not is debatable, but it's a definite selling point for you as a sitter.

Also, you have to give Rover your SSN if you want to be paid. They have to report all their payments to Uncle Sam.
