what does it mean when a sitter is "away"?

does that mean they truely are not sitting or are they blocking you as a owner?

Away status would affect all owners requesting a specific service (or possibly all services), not just a specific owner.

From the help center: Setting your status to away allows you to take a break from offering services while maintaining your Rover profile and client list. It’s especially useful when you’ll be unable to respond quickly to requests—like during a well-deserved vacation or when you’re hosting guests from out of town... Change your status to Away if you need a break and want to remove yourself from search results... Do this for each service you want to update...

That's a good question. When I first looked at it, I thought it was only to be used for "I've stopped sitting." Long absences. But, I've been wondering if it should be used when you think you'll be away 6 hours. (You don't have a dog that day, you're doing a home project, shopping, whatever.). You can't (or don't want to) respond to requests within the time the requester expects.

I wish there was a way to say "I'm away for n hours." That way a pet owner would know I'm just blocking everyone for a "quiet time" (outside the night hours which Rover lets us choose to be unavailable).

As far as blocking you as a specific owner, we don't have the ability to do that. (Not sure if you were asking about that.).
