Anyone else get scammed from Craigslist?

After posting to CL got a text about a dog stay. Total scam. marybwhite924@gmail.com or 1432140018. Do not even bother replying. Numerous attempts to get them to contact me on Rover were ignored. Anyone else get this or similar ones I need to avoid? I bet if I cashed said check they planned on sending my bank account would be cleared out. One of the many reasons to be a Rover sitter played out in real life-- to avoid scammers!

Wow! Glad you caught onto that and for sharing! I've avoided posting to Craigslist because of reading similar posts here. Thanks!

Yes, other sitters here have received falsified booking requests. Usually it's for a long stay over a month with no details about the dog, immediately requesting to move the conversation off Rover platform to a personal email or cell phone.

I haven't had that happen via CL because I don't use it, but I have received several emails saying they got my name from either DV or care.com. It's always a person inquiring on behalf of a friend or relative. They ask me to contact this person at a specified email. The stay is always at least a month. I've learned from here and from experience that these are scams.

Do not respond. That just validates your email address to them and may subject you to other scam emails or something possibly worse.

I've received the same texts inquiring on behalf of a friend or relative, instructing to contact on specific email. They usually say they saw me on Care.com, but sometimes they don't say, so it could be CraigsList too. Be alert! Those scammers are why Rover is helpful to protect us.

I have never posted a link on Craigslist, mainly because I just cannot imagine getting proper business from it in this day and age, and also because of all the posts I have read on here from people that have gotten scammed.

Proceed with caution, is the best advice I can give.
