Pet care experience
Dogs are simply my passion! I love providing them with all the love and care they need to thrive. As a (former) dog owner myself, I also know how difficult it can be to find quality care for your pups while you’re away (or just need a walk during the day!). I’m here to fill that role and make sure your four-legged child is as happy and healthy as can be. Their safety is my my main priority. My experience with dogs is varied and extensive! I was the dog mom to two very funny and very vocal Wheaten Terriers for 16 wonderful years. During their lives, I also had a dog walking company for three years. I also volunteered at the ACC on 110th Street and learned a great deal about other dogs there as well. Since, I’ve joined with Rover and have loved every minute of it! I offer boarding, sitting, and walking services, and bring my expertise along to every stay. I currently live my with my husband and children. We don’t have a dog right now, but we are huge dog lovers! We are always very welcoming to any new pups that want to come be a temporary addition to our family. I think we make a pretty good team together! I am a screenwriter by trade, so I get to make my own schedule. It’s great to have the flexibility to bring to the pups under my care, so I’m happy to work with unorthodox schedules! When taking on a new canine client, I do like to schedule a meet-and-greet. That way, we can make sure that we’re all a good fit for one another. Plus, we get to talk face-to-face about your pooch and your expectations for their care! I love meeting new pups, so think it’s just a win-win all around. I like to ask lots of questions about your pup so I can figure out just what makes them tick.
Reviews
Susan is a great person & a lover of all dogs. She has always shown a huge passion for her pets and I have trusted her with my dog several times when I was out of town. She always seems to have a smile on her face when around pets and I love that she is taking her passion to the next level.
Susan Kaufman is fantastic person and dedicated wonderful dog walker. She takes such amazing care of our two dogs. She treats them as if they are her children. Seriously, I could not recommend her more highly as a competent, super professional person. Thank you, Jane Dresner Sadaka
I cannot thank Susan enough! She was so kind and hospitable. She sent me pictures and was delighted to have my dog Libby in her home. Most definitely will be seeing her again. Libby loooves her and when she's with Susan I know she's treated as one of her own.
Susan was able to help our family out in a pinch by taking great care of our 15lbs Cairn, Kaisa. Though we were only gone for about 5 hours, Susan sent us update photos and kept her entertained the whole time. It was clear when we picked our little one up that she had grown quite fond of her new friend! Susan is also very thorough and asks the right questions. We felt really confident about leaving our dog with her. We'll definitely look Susan up when we need help with Kaisa next time we're in New York.

I keep your dog occupied by playing fetch in our long hallway. I throw a variety of toys down the hall then have your dog return the toy. This is an excellent way to tire out your baby.

Information Susan K. would like to know about your pet
I'm an equal dog opportunist. I'd like to know the dog's temperament, so there's no surprises. I'd want to know where they are used to walking, what people food can the dog eat, as the dog I'm sitting.... loves, did I say ......loves human food. Did you know blueberries are good for dogs? The dog's pee and poo schedule is important as well. A meet and greet is mutually helpful, but I've never met a dog I didn't get along with and visa versa. I'm crazy about dogs; all dogs.
A typical day
I live on the UES, a 15 minute walk to Central Park or Carl Schurz Park. There’s also the FDR promenade right on the East River with amazing views, and great places to play and throw some balls around. The area is full of activity and many many dogs, which is great for pups under my care. If your dog likes, I run them at the end of our walk. There are also great stores to walk into where dogs are welcome. When not, we window shop. It’s a great dog neighborhood! I love to go for plenty of walks, since my work allows me a great deal of freedom. I also believe that Nietzsche once said that “only ideas won by walking have any value,” so it’s always great to get out of the house with some friendly pups! We’ll always make sure to hit up some of the best places for dogs to socialize and have some fun. I love exploring with my furry friends, whether that means seeing more of the city or visiting some dog-friendly stores, cafes, and restaurants.
