Your dog will feel right at home!

Pet care experience

***drop off and pick up hours: M-F after 6pm sat-sun by appointment*** I have had dogs of all sorts of breeds, sizes and characters. I have a large fully fenced in yard and am home the majority of the day to ensure your pet is fully taken care of while you are away. I love to take care of puppies and help with their training or even helping previously neglected animals find their hope for life again. I would love to be able to watch your pet for you while you're away on a trip. I have volunteered at Pets In Need in Ringwood, Illinois. I am also a Junior Founding Board Member of Animal Outreach Humane Society of McHenry County in Northern Illinois. I have also fostered cats and kittens in my own for adoption, as well as dog sat for many friends, family, and co-workers. With my love for animals and extensive knowledge of animals and their care, your pet will be well taken care of in my home.

Shannon was very nice and accommodating to our 6-month old puppy who still has some bad habits we are trying to break. The interaction between us was friendly, quick and easy and I felt like Max was well taken care of while we were away. Thanks so much!

Shannon and her family are awesome! Our dog has separation anxiety and can be quite a handful. One of the reasons we chose Shannon, is that she is very qualified and knowledgable about a large variety of animals. She took a lot of extra care to make sure our dog was happy and comfortable during his stay. She kept us posted with photos and texts, making it much easier for us to be away. We will be using Shannon whenever we need to be away and we highly recommend her to everyone.

Harry seemed to feel right at home. He did to her just like he does to me... won't leave your eyesight. She did a great job on his bath and mani/pedi. :) Thanks again.

Shannon watched my dog on several occasions and was always willing to go above and beyond to help take care of her. She has a great passion for animals. Shannon is a true animal lover!

Why I love dog sitting I have loved dogs my entire life. I grew up with a German Shepard and a Corgi mix. I have also had a long haired German Shepard and a Boxer. I currently do not have any dogs, but I'm sure I'll be opening my heart soon enough to a new puppy.

Information Shannon K. would like to know about your pet

Before accepting a dog I would like to know their temperament, schedule, and any other special instructions that may be required for your pet. I have no breed or size preferences.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks If you ask for your dog to be walked I will walk him around the area near my home. There is a large recreational center nearby that offers trails through some fields. Your dog's sleeping arrangement If you have a preference that is fine. I have a screened in patio where the dog can stay, but the dog will most likely be sleeping in the living room or in my office. Time I'll spend with your dog I do have a full time job so your dog would be fed in the morning and left alone from 9am-5pm. When I come home we will probably play in the yard or possibly go for a walk. Depending on your dog depends on whether they spend their weekday indoors in the a/c or outside with a play pool and plenty of shade. I am home all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

About this sitter: In the summer of 2000 I began to volunteer at a local animal shelter. By September the shelter had hired me for regular care of the animals that were taken in. At this animal shelter we rotated who took care of which parts and animals. Duties included walking and letting out dogs, cleaning, identifying possible health issues, medicating, and providing enrichment for some mis-treated relinquinshed animals as well as providing adoption assitance to customers. After a little over a year of regular work at this shelter the owners had lost sight of the organizations goal and many employees and the board of directors had to quit. After having to quit, I had helped as a junior founding board member of Animal Outreach Humane Society of McHenry County. For this organization I was a licensed foster home for cats with my speciality being in handling ferals and providing the time and effort to keep orphaned kittens alive. I went away to college in the fall of 2003 with intentions of finishing a pre-vet degree. After 3 years I found that continueing school is not something I was able to do. I found a full time career with Grainger in 2006, but would like to try and get into a career with animals as I feel I may be happier. I have many transferable skills, and know a lot about animal care and am always willing to learn more. Since being employed with Grainger I have finished my Bachlor’s degree in business management.
