Writer seeks 🐶 walking partner!
Pet care experience
Madison dogs! I'm a sometime lonely writer who loves long (and short) walks. You're a lonely dog who needs long (short) walks. How ‘bout we be friends? I can come to your house OR you can come to my house and we'll eat a bit, play a bit, and talk about anything you want. I don't bark and tell, so whatever you say is safe with me. I don't have a particular "type". If we click, we click. Basically I'm looking for dogs who like humans as much as they like other dogs. Maybe even more. Small, medium, big, I got you covered. We can do short walks, too. As long as you're cool with hearing about my latest amazing literary accomplishment, we'll be fine. I've known quite a few dogs in my lifetime; most were big dogs. Right now we live with a female (un spayed) petite cocker spaniel. But my secret "dog weapon" is my son, who is a dog lover in the extreme. Not only does he love dogs, but he talks to them. (As much as I talk to them.) If you need someone to throw a ball for an hour, he's your guy. If you need someone to lay on the floor with your dog and discuss the plight of dogs whose owners won't give them Beggin'Strips every half hour, he'll happily lay on the floor and commiserate. If this sounds like something you want, text me. (You might even get TWO dog sitters for the price of one.) If we're a match, let's meet! We have our own 1.5 year old dog who needs care so someone is almost always home (unless we’re at the dog park). As for work, I’m currently job hunting so I’m flexible with my personal hours. I will update if my schedule changes. Just between you and me, big barkers or highly anxious dogs are NOT a good match in our home. We have experience to prove this. But! Do you love dog parks? We know a few! Within 4 miles of our front door are two! This really helps when a dog doesn’t have an enclosed yard. 🐶 If you stay over 🌝 or 🌙 we will probably visit the dog park (unless you hate it). How will we get there? I’ve got a Honda CRV! You just bring a couple of towels and a toy for your outing! Need a crate for the ride? We have a MED dog crate. But if what you need is just some quiet company, I always have a good book we can share. Feedings happen on your schedule and walkies, too. If you must sleep in a bed, you will need to get along with the friendly cocker spaniel — territorial behavior won’t work here. Otherwise bring a crate for stay-overs, day or night. Sometimes a dog just needs its own space, you know? Or an medicine Injection (like insulin), or medicine/supplements. We can do that, as well.
Reviews
Shanna took great care of our pup. I will definitely use her again in the future!
Shanna was very respectful of my home. I really enjoyed the communication including pictures throughout her stay. Great experience!
Shanna did a great job at taking care of our two pups over the weekend! She was very flexible with when she could come over on Friday, and gave photo updates throughout the weekend. She also came to the house a day before we left to pick up the keys in person, which I really appreciated. Would definitely book with her again!
Shanna was amazing! She was available on short notice and took care of my dog just like she would her own. It was his first time with rover and we were both nervous. She definitely eased my nerves and sent plenty of pictures and updates. She is definitely the person you want watching your baby also!

Primary importance: what are your aversions and loves! Medical and dietary needs are a must. How do you get on with other dogs? Humans? Did you spent time in a shelter -- or is this your first and forever home? What are your favorite things to bark at? And when? And finally, Do you know any commands? If so, which ones and what do they look and sound like? What commands do you do best? I prefer lapdogs and larger. Working dog and hound breeds and me mix well for SHORT PERIODS, especially if they are young. Catahoola Leopard dog are a big NOPE. German Shepherds require a discussion (we have a dog here). I prefer non-sporting, terrier, sporting, especially the "hair" type coats. MEDIUM - LOW energy is ideal. If you have a big beast (like a St. Bernard), I can handle the Slobber Clobber -- but I really want a towel handy, please. Loving on dogs in need of quiet companionship and presence is perfect. We have experience sitting with former shelter dogs. OLDER dog? No problem. We understand the benefits that come with age. (More sleep, help with potty trips, that delicious medicine what tastes like cheese/peanut butter/hamburger meat!)
A typical day
Where is the closest dog park near you? Do you like obstacle course work? Or do you want a long stroll down the nearest sidewalk or trail path? I'm not a runner, so how 'bout we just walk briskly? Or just walk... If you like snack, I agree. Snacks are good. We should bring some. Or not. I really hope you like to retrieve balls, because after about 15 times I get really bummed about bringing your ball back. I could be bring my spare throwing arm if you're really into chasing things. Maybe if it's a special day (and you're a special dog), we could go find some badgers at Badger Prairie Dog Park!
