Pet care experience
I believe in personalized, one-on-one dog care and usually keep an activity log during visits and longer stays. I am equally happy going on long walks with more energetic pups as I am lounging with an older dog who just wants their ears scratched. I was a dog walker for 7 years, worked in a dog boutique through college, have 2 Golden Retriever sisters in Boston, and spent a week caring for 6 Goldens (2 of which were puppies). I work as a project manager (Mon-Thur typically 930am - 6pm). I am available nights and weekends and early mornings dependent on location. I am extremely responsible, organized, and comfortable with all levels communication preferences and happy to cater my service to suit your comfort levels as an owner.
Reviews
Rachel stopped by before the weekend to meet Linus first, which we really appreciated. She was very responsive, sent a us a lot of photos and updates and took great care of Linus. She took him on long walks and was very flexible on drop-off and pick-up plans. We would absolutely leave Linus with Rachel again in the future.
Rachel surely was a dog in a past life. She is as kind and considerate as can be to humans but is double, triple, quadruple that with dogs. They light up her life and they love her immeasurably in return. Rachel is dependable, ethical and exceptionally trustworthy. Lucky dogs who get to stay with Rachel!
I own a pet sitting service in Belmont, MA, and Rachel Downes worked for me as a dog walker. There is no doubt that Rachel is a dog lover. That goes without saying. But when I hire my dog walkers, they must be reliable, dependable and have common sense. They are entering homes while owners are not there, and no one is looking over their shoulders. It is truly a much more responsible position than one can imagine. Believe me, and my 29 years of owning this business, that lots of things can happen. Rachel showed her maturity and common sense by checking in with me and the owners when a dog seemed not herself. If she had any questions, she would not hesitate to ask, and I truly knew that I had no worries with her handling all of her walks. Rachel visits when she returns to Belmont just to say hi to any dogs that may be at my home. They all love her as much as she loves them, and if those dogs could write their own reviews, they would tell you that Rachel would be a wonderful fit to walk your dog too.
Rachel has cared for my dog on multiple occasions. She is a very caring person - not only to dogs (though especially to them) but also to people. She has a kind heart and a vibrant personality. I would trust Rachel with my dog anytime, which I realize means entrusting her to make the right decision should anything out of the ordinary occur. I strongly endorse Rachel.

Exercise preferences/energy levels. Personality traits. Favorite toys/treats. Triggers/Fears/Anxieties. No breed preferences though I am partial to larger dogs.

I live near Herbert Von King Park and a 30 min walk to Fort Greene Park. I love going on long walks and am happy to take pups jogging if that's the exercise they prefer. Additionally, I was a softball player in high school and love to play fetch!
