Pet care experience
I love pets and have a lot of experience volunteering and taking care of dogs and cats. I have some medical background and first aid experience and am able to identify and respond to medical emergencies and administer medication if needed. If you have to leave your dog, it can be a stressful time for both yourself, and your dog. I will do everything to ensure that the dog is as comfortable as possible and occupied with enjoyable activities to make the time pass with the least amount of stress possible. He or she may even have a great vacation themselves! Why I love dog sitting While I have loved dogs my whole life my professional experience with them includes ~2 year fostering and providing care, medicine, and rehab for a non profit, Shelter Pet Partners and Second Chance Dog Rescue in San Diego, CA. ~ 1 year in the local area walking dogs and caring for them overnight ~ I also grew up with dogs About my yard I have a small fenced in backyard. My experience administering medication Yes. I did a lot of this volunteering for shelters.

Rachel cared for our 16 yr old lab who had multiple medical issues. She was always on, caring , compassionate and patient with our sweet "little boy." He truly loved her as much as he loved us. Rachel took great care of our dog and sent us regular updates which we greatly appreciated as dog-parents nervous about leaving her for an extended period. She also cleaned the apartment!

I would like to know about its personality and medical issues. I will want to know if it ever bites, is safe to walk and take to the dog park and anything I might need to avoid while taking walks. If something in particular frightens it or it tends to get overly excited by certain things while walking. It would be nice to know what sort of feeding and toilet schedule it is accustomed to. It would very helpful to know what commands its familiar with, and some of the basic ways it likes to communicate its own needs. For example, does it do something in particular when it wants to go outside? I would also like to know about any ongoing training that I should help maintain.
A typical day
Your dog's sleeping arrangement Basically wherever it wants. If you want it to sleep somewhere in particular, I will follow that plan. Otherwise its welcome to curl up wherever it feels most comfortable. Time I'll spend with your dog 12-16 hours a day. Other than work, I don't go out much and spend most of my time at home studying, playing guitar, watching netflix, preparing meals, and cleaning. In addition to taking great care of your pet I will also take great care of your home. I have always been taught to leave things as good, if not better than I found them. I am a clean and respectful house guest. Extra house-sitting services I would be happy to water plants or bring in the mail.
