Pawblo Picasso Pet Artist looking for studio pals!
Pet care experience
I am a professional pet portrait artist (Pawblo Picasso), and I absolutely LOVE dogs! I haven't been able to commit to owning a dog yet (time and money), but my boyfriend and I have been dog-sitting through Rover for over a year and we couldn't be happier! I have the perfect job for having dogs around because I can bring the dogs with me to the studio to keep me company while I paint so I won't end up leaving them home all day. My boyfriend works from home a few days during the week as well, and I sometimes leave the dogs with him so they can hang out with him in our huge fenced-in backyard while he works. We enjoy cooking and hanging out in the backyard and allowing the dogs to get as much outside time as possible. I try to regularly go to local dog parks if that suits the dogs I am watching. We are very active and look forward to any opportunity to go on a long walk or even a hike with a four-legged friend. Between my boyfriend and I, our schedules are generally pretty flexible! Since we don't have any of our own dogs , we can offer a specialty service of hosting your dog on by his or herself. Because we would have to turn down other dogs for this time, we charge 50% extra for this. About Melissa: I am a professional painter with a specialization in pet portraits. I am VERY much an animal person. I've had dogs growing up but I haven't been able to have them in my house up until recently (landlord issues). I grew up in MA and went to school in Michigan and now I live in Medford. I am very active and love the excuse to go on a hike or a long walk with a 4-legged pal! I spend my days in the studio and would love to have some company while I paint! About Samir: Samir is a men's vintage clothing and antique dealer. Sadly, he didn't experience the joys of having dogs while growing up, but he is making up for lost time by hosting a variety of dogs through Rover. Samir is a huge animal lover and has been having a blast getting to learn about different breeds and temperaments.
Reviews
Melissa and Samir took excellent care of our dog Lola during her 7 night stay with them. At the meet and greet Lola immediately felt comfortable with them; she happily sat between them, snuggling. Melissa asked astute questions, noted our responses, and was clearly experienced, careful and responsible. Melissa reliably communicated with us prior to Lola's stay regarding drop off and other arrangements. During Lola's stay, Melissa sent us daily updates on Lola as well as photos of Lola. Melissa accommodated our and Lola's needs and went above and beyond. We are confident in Melissa and happy to have found someone so dedicated and trustworthy with whom we feel comfortable leaving our sweet Lola.
Melissa took great care of our dog, Maya. She was really organized and reliable when it came to our communications about Maya's needs and the pick up and drop off times. She communicated with us during the stay by sending us updates and a photo each day. I felt really comfortable leaving our dog in her care. In the future she will be my first contact if we need dog care again.
We left the country for 10 days, and Melissa was the perfect second home for our two dogs. She sent pictures and assured us that they were doing well often and clearly kept them busy with walks and visits to the park. It meant so much for us to feel so comfortable leaving the dogs for so long. Communication was great and her home is perfect with a yard for the dogs to play.
Melissa and Samir are great. It is obvious that they really understand what it means to be a dog owner. They were so flexible, allowing our pups to do a trial stay before their longer stay in a couple of weeks. Melissa sent great pictures and assured me that the pups were settling in. I will be perfectly comfortable having Blake and Zoey stay with them when we go away on our longer trip.

Information Melissa K. would like to know about your pet
I need to know: 1. Is the dog is crate trained. How does the dog behave when I need to leave him home (does he/she bark?) 2. If he/she sleeps on the bed, and what kind of rules you have for the dog (not allowed on the couch etc.) 3. How does the dog get along with other dogs and other people?
A typical day
We prefer to watch dogs from one family at a time. Sometimes there is a small overlap between dogs from separate family's, but we will always confirm with the owners and often try to schedule a time for the dogs to meet beforehand. Here's where we'll take our walks: I live in a suburb with lots of other dogs, so there is plenty of good smells and opportunities to paint the town yellow. Sometimes I'll walk around a pond near my house or go on a hike in the Fells or possibly go to a dog park if the dog is comfortable around other dogs. Your dog's sleeping arrangement: If the dog isn't too big they can sleep on the bed with us if that's what they're used to or I can put a dog bed next to our bed. It totally depends on what the dog normally does. Time I'll spend with your dog: I shouldn't leave the dog longer than 4-6 hours but I am happy to hear how you handle leaving the dog behind (for less or more time) and go by your rules!
