Pet care experience
Hi there! My name is Meaghan and I love dogs! :) I’ve been living with or taking care of dogs practically my entire life! I grew up with an adorable Beagle named Bailey and he was just the best - my first best fur friend (I may or may not have claimed that I was going to marry him when I was 6). I won’t steal my parents thunder and pretend that I started taking care of him in the first grade, but I certainly tried! Bailey lived a very long and happy 17 years and passed away when I was 22. Since Bailey, I have lived with a few roommates that have had dogs (golden retriever, 2 large hound mixes, medium size hound mix) that I’ve helped take care of (fed them, walks and playtime, taken to vet/groomers, given medication, etc.). These dogs have ranged from puppies to adults so I do have a good bit of puppy experience and training, as well. In recent years, I’ve gotten married and currently live in an apartment without any animals (unless you include my husband 😉). My husband also has lots of dog sitting experience and often helps me with my Rover bookings. My brother adopted a Boston Terrier puppy about 2 years ago - my fur nephew, Toby. I take care of Tobe a lot and I love every second of it! I help take care of him when my brother is working long day shifts by taking him for walks/to the dog park, feeding him, bathing him, etc. If you couldn’t tell by now, I really love dogs and thought that Rover would be a great way to get some extra doggie time until I’m able to adopt one of my own! I am a very trustworthy person and promise to only do what I came for, which is take care of your pets! I follow directions very well, am an active listener, and pay a lot of attention to detail. I know how scary it can be to put a stranger in charge of the well-being of your dog while you’re not there, but I have taken care of a lot of doggos over the years and am blessed to be able to say that I have never had any sort of incident. I know how to look for signs of aggression or uncertainty in another dog and how to avoid them. I have dealt with sick dogs and anxious dogs with separation anxiety. I promise to always be respectful of your home and possessions and to always do my absolute best to keep your dog happy, healthy and safe!

Let me know ahead of time if there are any special needs/medications/personality traits that I should be aware of. I have lots of experience with giving medication to dogs and know all the tricks to get them to take it. I also have experience with dogs who are reactive to other dogs and humans and am good at reading the tell-tale signs and body language that dogs express when they are nervous or uncomfortable in a situation. Additionally, if your pet has any problems with males or females let me know. As I stated above, my husband often helps me with Rover bookings so we typically have a lot of flexibility with who can check up on your pet based on their preferences. Just let me know ahead of time and I’m sure we can work through anything!
A typical day
I love playing with all dogs and stimulating them mentally and physically. I first rely on you, their owner, to let me know what your pup enjoys the most. I am always up for a walk (weather permitting) so they can get all the smells in. I’m more than happy to take them to the local dog park to throw their favorite ball and fetch if that’s something they enjoy. Or stay home and play with their favorite toys in the house/yard if that’s what they prefer. I have lots of positive reinforcement training experience so I’m also happy to work on commands and tricks with them. Whatever they need, just let me know!

Availability
My job allows me to work remotely so I am home every day. I tend to have a lot of breaks and lulls in my day that allow me to go for walks or to stop by your house to care your pets. My most ideal times of day are before 10am, during the afternoon between 12-2 and all evening after about 4pm. I want to note that these are the most typical times that I’m available, but I often have additional availability throughout the day depending on my workload.
